The Swedish Food Agency's proposal for updated dietary advice

2024-09-30

The changes in the proposal compared to previous dietary advice are as follows: - Fruit and vegetables increase to at least 500 g per day as legumes are no longer included in this group. - Legumes are placed in their own group and are recommended to be eaten often, preferably every day. - A reduced quantity recommendation for red meat and charcuterie, from 500 grams per week to 350 grams. - Clearer advice on daily consumption for dairy and vegetable replacement products. The recommendation is to choose low-fat, unsweetened dairy products, preferably fermented such as e.g. yogurt or fortified vegetable options every day. The Swedish Food Agency now welcomes views from relevant authorities, health care and other actors. The referral period for comments is open until October 22.
